The sweet savor we offer God ensures we are in His good
pleasure.
Genesis
8:18-22
8:18-19 The
Lord had just brought them out from a mighty event (the flood) safe and sound.
They will show their gratitude to God.
8:20 Noah wasn’t
instructed to do this; he did it on his own because he loved the Lord! Noah had
7 of every clean animal on the arc.
8:21 God
accepted the offering from Noah and was very pleased with him.
8:22 Don’t listen
to what man would say; there will not be a global warming that stops winters
from happening. God stated in this verse that summer and winter will never
stop. Who are you listening too?
Isaiah
65:1-9
65:1 Israel
was not pleasing our Father like Noah was. We must know what makes our Father
happy and sad. Pleasing Him brings His good will on us (quoted in Romans
10:20-21).
65:2 rebellious
people walk according to their own desires and way; their way is usually
contrary to God’s way. Thoughts H 4284; intention, plan, plot, cunning
work (good or bad).
65:3 They
burnt incense upon altars of brick alongside the heathen and not the golden
altar of incense as God instructed (compare Lev 17:5).
65:4 the
rebellious children were not following any of God’s laws.
65:5 smoke
in your nose is annoying and the total opposite of a sweet savor.
65:6-7 do
not join in with this group. They will be repaid for their acts.
65:8 those that
serve God will not be destroyed, only the bad. No matter if the good and bad
are mingled together, the good will be saved!
65:9 give
God the sweet savor He deserves. We don’t sacrifice animals to Him anymore but
what He wants from us is our love (Hos 6:6).
Ezekiel
20:27-41
20:27 many
worshipped false idols and left God’s love. This is a very big trespass against
God.
20:28 God
brought them into the land and they repay Him with idol worship.
20:29 the
high place they should be going to is Zion (Holy Mountain) not this place of
Baal worship.
20:30-31 pass
through the fire: this is the worship of Moloch. They sent their children
to death for that idol. We must not send our children to a spiritual death by
deception from the antichrist.
20:32 it is your
choice, to serve the Living God or things made with wood and stone by your own
hand.
20:33 the
Lord is in charge! It is much better to have Him happy with you than unhappy.
20:34-35 this
is a lecture I would want to skip. If you are found to be doing wrong then kiss
the paddle, repent to God and move on.
20:36-37 (compare
Amos 9:9) the rod was used by the shepherd to count His sheep so none were
lost. The hook at the end of the rod helped separate the sheep into the
different flocks. Don’t be separated from the flock of God; offer some sweet
savor to Him.
20:38 this
is God separating the flock.
20:39 if you
go to worship the idols don’t call on the Lord as your Father; He is done with you.
20:40 God
loves us and wants us to give that sweet savor to Him.
20:41 don’t let
false teachings sway you from the love God has for us. Return that love to Him!
2
Corinthians 2:10-17
2:10-11 studying
Gods word helps us recognize Satan’s tricks.
2:12-14 no
matter where we are; if God be with us then we cannot fail!
2:15 we
understand the Word of God and will not be fooled by Satan’s tricks.
2:16-17 we
help carry out the plan of God. Sometimes that means sending some to the devil
(death) and others to the Father. Be a sweet savor in the nose of our Father.
