Revelation ch 5

We found out that John was taken to heaven to be shown things that will happen. We also got a glimpse of how beautiful the very presence of God will be. Jesus filled us in as well to what the 4 living creatures are and there purpose. Here in this chapter we find a qualified person (Christ) who can open the book and fill us in to the understanding of it.

Ch. 5

5:1 7 is a number that means spiritual completeness. (Compare: Ezekiel 2:8-3:3) This is God on the throne holding His word (bible). We are to eat and absorb this word so to help and do the work of God, as Ezekiel was instructed to do.

5:2-4 there was no power in heaven or earth, natural or supernatural who could open the book. This is the plan of Salvation and none were able to teach/read it (very sad).

5:5 The Lion of the tribe of Judah/Root of David: speaking of Jesus Christ. Christ is able; He is our Savior/Messiah. Prevailed G 3528; conquer, prevail, get the victory. Jesus prevailed at Calvary!

5:6 horn: symbolic of power. Lamb slain: this is the crucifixion. Seven eyes: compare Zechariah 3:9/4:10. These eyes are symbolic of God’s elect and His watchfulness over them. These 7 horns, 7 eyes and 7 Spirits give Christ complete Power.

5:7 He took the word of God. He is the word!

5:8 odours G 2368; an aroma, incense. Saints: these are the set aside ones (elect). God hears the prayers of His saints. He keeps them bottled up to answer them when the time is best for us.

5:9 (compare: Deuteronomy 32).  New song: This is the song of Moses that we will sing. All can be saved if they believe. Hast redeemed: He purchased, paid the price for us.

5:10 (compare: Rev 20:6, Rev 1:6). Those that overcome and take part in the first resurrection will be priests for God and reign with Him.

5:11 ten thousand times ten thousand: this is a Hebraism meaning that they were not able to be counted because there were so many. (Compare: Dan 7:10). These are those that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb. He is able to save ALL!

5:12 here you have a polysyndeton (figure of speech showing emphasis) with the word and. The word and is put before all the words to show emphasis. Power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessings; these are the 7 spirits of God.

5:13 creature G 2938; created thing. He is worthy, forever and ever. Only through that Lamb slain can you partake in that everlasting life.

5:14 Amen: that’s that! This is how it will be an there is no other way.

Revelation ch 4

Remember the word revelation means to uncover or reveal, and that is exactly what God wants us to do with His word. We just finished a tour of earth and the churches and are about to transition to heaven (it is important to understand where things are happening). We finished the 7 churches and found only 2 were pleasing to God.

Ch.4

4:1 after this: after the explanation of the churches. This is our Heavenly Father telling John to go to heaven so he can be shown things. John is going to be given information on how and when things will happen so it can be passed along to us.

4:2 (compare: Ezekiel 1). He was transfigured into that spirit body. This is the throne of God. John is in heaven, not on earth to be shown things.

4:3 (compare: Ex 28:15-30). Jasper: the last stone on the priest’s breastplate. Sardine (sardius): the first stone on the priest breastplate. This is God’s Shekinah Glory, how beautiful it is!

4:4 24: this number represents heavenly government and worship. White raiment: remember our clothing in heaven is made up of our righteous acts done on earth. Crowns of Gold: they had overcome. These 24 could be the 12 patriarchs and 12 apostles (this is just an educated guess).

4:5 7: this number signifies spiritual perfection. Take note of the 7 Spirits of God, we will be discussing them in the next chapter. This is an awesome sight around the throne of God!

4:6 sea of glass: this signifies purity. Beasts G 2226; living ones or living creatures. (Compare: Gen 3:24, Ezek 1:5-14, Ezek 10:20). These living creatures are cherubim; they are protectors of the mercy seat (as Satan was to do). Eyes: compare Ezek 1:8, Ezek 10:12. You see that these were created for the purpose of serving God.

4:7 (compare: Num 2). This is symbolic of God’s children. In Numbers chapter 2 we are told how the children of God camped and what flag (ensign) they camped under. This gives us the representation of those tribes. Lion: (east) Judah. Eagle: (north) Dan. Man: (south) Reuben. Calf: (west) Ephraim.

4:8 (compare: Ezek 1:4-10). You see the description of this in Ezekiel chapter 1. There should be no great mystery in this. This is God’s transportation and the living creatures which guard His throne.

4:9-10 giving the praise to the One who is worthy of all praise!

4:11 there should be a “the” before each of the words glory, honor and power. It is the power, the glory and the honor to show the significance of the moment. He is King of kings and Lord of lords, there is no other! We were created for His pleasure.

The Most High

The one who is the Most High is our Heavenly Father! There is none higher in the universe. Remember this as tough times come, for HE is there for us.

Genesis 14:14-23

14:14- Lot is actually his nephew (there is no word for nephew in the Hebrew). Abraham wasn’t going to stand still and allow this to happen.

14:15-16- Everything was recovered that was taken. This is because the Most High was with them!

14:17-18- Melchizedek H4442; king of righteous. Dale H6010; valley. Salem H8004; peace. This Melchizedek is Jesus Christ (compare Heb 7:1-3, Psalm 110).

14:19- Have faith in God. HE is in control of everything in heaven and earth.  Love and trust HIM enough to believe that he has a plan and purpose for everything.

14:20- shows his faith in God.

14:22-23- “I have lift up my hand” is the same as “I swear”. Abraham was careful to give the credit to God who delivered the enemy into his hand. God will do the same for us today; just remember to give HIM credit.

Psalm 148:1-14

148:1-2- Praise ye the Lord: Hallelu-JAH. He is worthy of our praise.

148:3-4- Do you have troubles in your life? Do you think they are too big for our Father to handle? HE is creator of all.

148:5-6- HE is our Father and HE is in charge! There will always be the seasons (compare Gen 8:22).

148:7-8- dragons H8577; sea monsters, sea serpent, whale. Gods word will be fulfilled, all things work for that.

148: 9-11- All souls belong to God (compare Ezekiel 18:4).

148:12-13- HE is the Most High and there is none higher.

148:14- exalteth  H7311; to raise. Horn H7161; power. God increases the power if His people. Don’t ever allow anyone to take what God has given or promised.

Luke 1:26-37

1:26-27- Mary was engaged to Joseph. She had known no man.

1:28-29- Mary didn’t doubt God, rather wondering what all this meant.

1:30-31- The savior of all is to be born for us!

1:32-33- Don’t let people fool you. There is no end to Gods kingdom. There will be an end to satan and his rule. Choose the right side.

1:34-35- Jesus is the Son of the Most High.

1:36- Interesting to note that we have 2 pregnancies. One would appear too late and the other too early. Don’t let doubt or unbelief come in.

1:37- Remember this!! Believe this!! Live this!!

Luke 1:67-74

1:69-71- an horn of salvation: A Hebraism, The word horn is used of Christ as being strong and powerful, and able to save. Don’t allow satan to mess up your lives. We are given power over him (Luke 10:19).

1:72-73- We have come back to the promise given to Abraham in the beginning of our study.

1:74- There is no excuse to be afraid. We are not the ones who should be afraid, it is our enemies who should fear! Remember satan is the author of fear and it is a mighty tool he uses IF you let him (compare 2 Tim 1:7).

Luke 2:6-14

2:6- Jesus was born the birth of a commoner. He was sent to all for their salvation.

2:11-13- How were they praising Him? What were they saying?

2:14- They were glorifying God! Remember the Most High is our Father. Don’t allow the enemy to downplay that or take it away. We have the promise and power to be victorious through God!!
