Rightly Handled

We are going to learn about following that straight path and avoiding the crooked path that would lead us astray.

Proverbs 3:1-8

3:1-2 commandment and law all reference the Word of God and the rules in it. Doing things God’s way will bring all these wonderful things into your life.

3:3-4 bind H7194; mentally bind up. Following the word of God and its statutes will bring goodness along with it.

3:5 poor or incorrect understanding will lead you astray. Having incorrect understanding will put you on the wrong road in life. Seek God first in everything and wait for His direction.

3:6 we acknowledge Him by prayer or talking to Him. This will ensure you are on the right path.

3:7-8 fear H 3372; morally revere. Fully trust in God and He shall supply all your needs.

Proverbs 11:1-6

11:1 all cheating is seen by God. There is no hiding from it and God looks at it as an abomination.

11:2-3 humbleness brings wisdom and direction down the right path in life. Pride brings shame and destruction for all who follow this path.

11:4-5 perfect H 8549; complete. Those who are honest do things right. Those that seek to do evil and cheat others will fall by their own evil works.

11:6 naughtiness H 1942; evil desire. Those that do what is right will stay out of trouble. The evil desires of those others will lead them to destruction.

2 Timothy 2:10-15

2:10 we should be focused on the eternity and not the worries of this world. If you have any false scales or deceit toward others get rid of it. Keep Gods word close to our hearts and be blessed.

2:11 we must let our worldly desires fall away and seek those things of God! We must keep the eternity in focus and not the things of this world that would be gone so quickly.

2:12 Christ suffered for the Truth, so will we. Don’t let this bother us, if only one seed planted ever blooms then it is worth all the problems.

2:13-14 the empty words we say to prove how smart and good we are profit no one. Words that help save lost souls and lift others up are profitable to everyone.

2:15 rightly divide G 3718; to make a straight cut. Handling the word of God correctly will allow your path in life to be straight and smooth. We have a choice; a smooth road or a bumpy hard one.

Hebrews 9:1-15

9:1 the first covenant with man wasn’t from heaven; God was residing with the children of Israel in an earthly tent.

9:2 the tent is referred to as the Mosaic tabernacle. The sanctuary was a holy place.

9:3-4 manna: Gods word that feeds and nourishes us. Aaron’s rod: symbolic of how He chose that house to be priests for Him. Ten commands: instruct us in our relationship with God and man.

9:5-7 only on the Day of Atonement, once a year was the high priest allowed in the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant was located.

9:8 Christ made that way into the Holy of Holies by His blood shed on the cross. The veil was ripped from top to bottom. He became that new tabernacle for us.

9:9-10 the old ways led to the new. Christ is that way into the Holy of Holies. Study the word and be blessed.

9:11-12 His blood paid the price. If you believe that and on Him, then eternal life is yours.

9:13-14 we serve our Father by opening that road of communication to Him. It makes our Father’s day when we tell Him we love Him and talk with Him.

9:15 Jesus Christ is the road to salvation.

John 14:3-9

14:3-4 He is explaining to the disciples that He will be leaving soon but they should know the way to Him.

14:5 Doubting Thomas was thinking in the flesh and not in the Spirit.

14:6 the way they were to follow was through Jesus to the Father; not a physical road.

14:7-9 Jesus paid a heavy price so we can have admittance unto the Father. He opened that road for us to follow. Follow the straight path and avoid the crooked one that leads to hell.

Diligence

Diligence is the word of focus for this study. Diligence is translated as meaning to make an earnest effort with
speed or haste. When our Father uses this word, He wants us to get with the program.

Ephesians 4:1-9

4:1-2 vocation G2821; calling. Lowliness G 5012; meekness, humbleness. To be a Christian takes action and dedication on our part. We must be humble and patient with one another.

4:3 endeavoring is our word diligence. We must earnestly keep the oneness of the Holy Spirit by focusing on the Word of God and not traditions of men.

4:4-5 all is from the Lord; don’t accept imitations!

4:6-7 (compare: Romans 12:3). Not every member of the body of Christ has the same duty or gift. We were given our gifts according to our responsibilities in the body of Christ.

4:8-9 (compare: Psalms 68:18). Soon after Christ was crucified, He went to those spirits who did not have the chance to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior (compare: 1 Peter 3:18-19). God is a very fair God!

2 Peter 1:3-14

1:3 all good things are given by God. If you ever need His power in your life just ask.

1:4 know the promise He has for you! There is so much hurt and heartache in the world today; it is good to have a solid foundation to stand on. God wants us to remind Him of the promises He has for us (compare: Isaiah 43:26).

1:5 the beginning of all knowledge is to reverence God; yet fools despise wisdom (compare: Proverbs 1:7). Gain as much knowledge as you can.

1:6 the knowledge gained from the Word of God gives you the qualities to be a victorious Christian. Temperance is self-control; you cannot be diligent without the ability to control your emotions.

1:7-9 having the wisdom of God in you will bring these qualities out. If you find yourself lacking wisdom in the Word you are reading; just ask our Father who gives to all men liberally (James 1:5).

1:10-11 if you diligently sever God and do the things mentioned your calling will become evident. You will also gain entrance into heaven for the eternity.

1:12 we must be diligent and remind ourselves of how to act and the things we are to do. It is very easy to get off track and forget the things and qualities that make us good Christians.

1:13-14 meet G 1342; right. In life and death Peter sought to remind people of the proper things to do.

2 Peter 3:11-18

3:11-12 the elements are the evil things of this world. God is a consuming fire (compare: Hebrews 12:29); it warms the hearts of His own and will convict those who are evil. Be diligent and have no fear! God keeps His own safe and nothing shall hurt you.

3:13 righteousness is what is right. There will not be any bad or things to offend during this time.

3:14 don’t be found doing the wrong things. Stay diligent in seeking truth and put forth the effort to overcome.

3:15-16 we must not be as those who are unstable in the word of God! Be diligent in your studies and if you need clarification as God!

3:17-18 let your guard down and Satan will sneak in and try to destroy you. We must stay diligent in our service and worship of God.

Hebrews 4:1-11

4:1 you can partake of that peace and rest today by coming under that mighty hand of protection offered by God.

4:2 many people hear the Word of God but lack the faith to follow it through or allow it to work in their lives. The people Moses led out of Israel heard the Word of God yet it profited them not. They refused to obey the instruction given and they perished.

4:3-4 Sabbath equals rest. Christ became our Passover (compare: 1 Cor 5:6-7) which is the highest Sabbath of the year. He became our rest if you believe on Him. We don’t worship a day of the week necessarily, rather we worship Jesus Christ.

4:5-6 the generation that came out of Egypt witnessed many miracles and signs of wonder; yet they still would not obey and believe God.

4:7 don’t wait, for tomorrow may never come! Obey His voice the moment you hear it.

4:8 the day is when Jesus became our rest.

4:9 don’t limit God to a day of the week. We can enter into His rest every day!

4:10 ceased G 2664; rest.

4:11 we must diligently seek to enter into that rest. Do it with haste so we don’t become as those who did not believe and perished away from God.
