How Committed Are You?

We are all committed to something or someone. The choice of commitment is our own, we can be committed to furthering good or we can choose to commit ourselves to evil and the ways of this world.

Proverbs 24:1-7

24:1 we should be committed to furthering the work of God, not the works of evil people. (Compare: Ex 20:17).

24:2 mischief H 5999; perverseness, trouble, iniquity. Evil people only look to evil things that will satisfy themselves and never edify the body of Christ or help others out.

24:3 those committed to God utilize these things to build. (Compare: Prov 1:2-7).

24:4-5 true knowledge comes from God’s Word. He gives us the power to accomplish things; they are not done by our own strength. We will all get what we have coming to us (evil people will get death/good people will receive eternal life).

24:6-7 the gate is the place of judgment (where a judge resides). Fools will keep silent there, or should.

Titus 2:11-14

2:11 salvation is for all people, nobody is left out. You must be committed and accept that gift given to us by that blood shed on the cross.

2:12 soberly G 4996; with sound mind. Even good people can get caught up in the wicked ways of this world; this is why we must be diligently committed to following the wisdom of God’s Word.

2:13 we should be familiar with the events that lead up to this time of Christ appearing. If we are not committed we could find ourselves following after the false one who comes first.

2:14 there are many who are lost and need to hear that Jesus died to forgive all our sins! We are to be His peculiar (special) people committed to sharing the good news with all.

1 Peter 3:8-15

3:8-9 pitiful G 2155; show compassion. The blessing is there for us if we commit ourselves to shoeing these qualities to others.

3:10 don’t get involved in the ways of the world and gossip.

3:11 the words “seek” and “ensue” takes action on our part. We must seek after peace.

3:12 if you are committed to the Lord He watches over you. Seek evil and you are at the mercy of the world.

3:13 nobody can harm you if you are committed to doing good for God. His eyes will be watching you intently as you go about your time.

3:14 God is in control and those seeking evil can do nothing to you. (Compare the life of Paul).

3:15 sanctify: Give God His proper place in your life. We study the word of God and have the answers for those who are in need. Don’t ever be ashamed of being a Christian and follower of God.

2 Corinthians 11:1-15

11:1-2 Paul was committed to the work of God, to the saving of souls.

11:3 don’t allow deception lead you astray from your commitment to God and His work.

11:4 don’t allow untruths in your life; seek out your answers from the word of God. Be committed to understanding what our Father has to say.

11:5-6 Paul spoke a colloquial language and didn’t use big words; but he knew the word of God.

11:7-8 God provided for Paul every step of the way and he didn’t need handouts.

11:9 Paul didn’t want anyone thinking he was preaching for the money or monetary gain.

11:10-11 God knew he loved the people.

11:12 we must correct those that claim to have a “new” doctrine or way of thinking.

11:13 transforming G 3345; disguising. These false teachers act like good Christians but will lead you straight to hell.

11:14-15 Satan is coming back disguised as Jesus Christ; are you ready? We must be committed to God and His cause, so we can stand against Satan when he comes here claiming to be Jesus.

Joel 2:18-21

2:18 (compare: Deut 32:36-43). God cares for His children.

2:19-20 (compare: Isa 66). The northern army is the army of Rev 9. This army thinks they are great but God has other ideas.

2:21 our Father is the one who will do great things for those committed to the work He has for us. Be committed to God and we can expect His blessings.
