Gods Power

God is in control and show us that in the bible many times. We must not let the things of this world distract us or lead us astray.

Jeremiah 10:12

10:12 world H 8398; the habitable world. He created things just as they should be; there was no big bang!

Psalms 62:1-12

62:1-2 waiteth H 1747; wait in silence. Accept Christ as your personal savior; it is the only way to eternal life. He is your protector. When times of trouble come, who do you run to?

62:3 how are your thoughts toward others; God will punish those who do evil to others. Those people are unstable and ready to fall at the slightest touch.

62:4 these evil people find pleasure in lies and tearing people down instead of lifting them up. Selah: this is a pause where we are to reflect on things said. Here the pause is for us to connect the enmity of his foes with his trust in God.

62:5-6 our full hope and trust is in God. He is the one we run to in times of trouble. When we do this we cannot be moved or shaken by what others would try and do to us. We must build our foundation upon the ROCK! (Compare Matthew 7:24-25).

62:7 my salvation depends upon God alone. Do you believe this?

62:8 in good or bad He is the one we run to for protection. Selah: the break here connects his trust in God with the nothingness of man.

62:9 vanity H1892; nothingness, emptiness. People who are evil and those who think to highly of themselves are nothing. Without God we are full of emptiness and lies we build for ourselves.

62:10 oppression H 6233; unjust gain, fraud. Do not trust in things of the world that have been acquired by evil actions. Treat people fairly and honestly in all dealings because God is always watching.

62:11-12 all power is of God! Don’t fool yourself and think that any material thing can take the place of what God does for you. We are paid by the things done for God…..how are we doing?

1 Kings 18:19-40

18:19-20 we have a battle in the making; God vs. Satan (Baal worshippers). There are many more Baal worshippers and the flesh would tell you Elijah could not stand against such a great army of people. Elijah stands with God, and if God be for us who can be against us! (Compare Romans 8:31).

18:21-22 we have a choice, serve God or Satan. You cannot serve both; we must decide who we will serve.

18:23-24 their god is man-made and Elijah knows it cannot bring fire down to consume anything.

18:25-26 they were putting their trust in man made things. God was not part of what they were doing, and if God is not in your actions then they will fail!

18:27-29 Elijah was giving them a hard time because I am sure it looked a little ridiculous. Elijah at one point even tells them that maybe their god is out on a “potty” break. We are to worship God in spirit and in truth. These Baal prophets are getting the flesh into it; be wary of places that try and get your flesh into the worship of God. Of course there is no answer from their god.

18:30-35 Elijah repairs the altar that had been purposely broken down by these people. There will be no doubt to the miraculous power of God and that He is the only God! Water is saturating everything and there would be no physical way it could be lit on fire without the help of God.

18:36-37 always give God the glory and praise for His mighty work. You see that Elijah doesn’t get crazy or start dancing around as the Baal worshippers; he simply petitions God to do a mighty work.

18:38-39 when God shows Himself it is awesome! There is no doubt that God is in charge.

18:40 those that do not serve God will come to a tragic end. That end could be missing out on eternal life. Sorrows, trouble and heartache will also find you here on earth when you choose to do things on your own.

Matthew 19:26

19:26 with God all things are possible! You must believe this and live by it everyday.
