We just covered
the song of Moses and the 15th chapter. We should now have a better
understanding of what will happen when the anti-Christ comes claiming to be the
true Jesus. In chapter 16 we are going to see the vials of wrath poured out on
those who did not believe in the true Christ but followed the fake.
Revelation
16
16:1 the
wrath is not going to heaven but here on earth.
16:2 sore
G 1668; ulcer (compare: Deut 32:24). Only those who worshipped the fake Christ will
suffer from these vials.
16:3-4 the
sea (water): the waters are people (compare: Rev 17:15/Rev 11:6). You see
the same thing the 2 witnesses were able to do through the power of God. Remember
that the true servants of God who were not deceived will be ok (compare: Rev
9:4).
16:5 Gods judgment
is always accurate and fair. All we have to do is love, serve and study His
word.
16:6-7 (compare:
Matt 23:29-35). Those that receive the wrath of God are worthy of their
punishment.
16:8 the
other plagues/vials compare to the plagues brought down on Egypt except this
one. This 4th vial is unique to Revelations (compare: Rev 11:4). The
2 witnesses will have the power over the sun to bring down destruction upon those
who deny God.
16:9 even
after witnessing the mighty power of God, the people will not repent but rather
blaspheme God. Those deceived think they are serving the real God but are
deceived. The people will not accept truth but rather hold on to their lies and
traditions men and churches teach!
16:10-11 (compare:
Rev 2:12-13). This will be the time of Satan. We are to speak the truth
regardless if they listen or not. No repentance equals no forgiveness.
16:12 the 6th
vial means it is time for Satan to appear as anti-Christ. Euphrates is the
border between Babylon and Israel. This clears the way for Satan and his 10
kings whom he brings with him to march in.
16:13 dragon:
Satan (anti-Christ). Beast: political system (one world) Satan will operate
in. False prophet: the religious beast; these are the 3 offices Satan
will hold here on earth. The 3 unclean spirits are: fire, smoke and brimstone (compare:
Rev 9:18). That is why it is important to listen and understand the word of God
because these 3 spirits will bring many into deception.
16:14 these
(dragon, beast, false prophet, 3 spirits, lies, deception) will be going out to
the kings of the earth (not the 10 Satan brings with him) to gather together
for the battle. They will be very convincing because of the miracles they will
be able to perform (compare: Rev 13:12-13).
16:15 a
thief comes when others don’t expect it. This will be even truer at the end
because many will believe that the anti-Christ is the true Christ and will be
deceived. The clothing you wear in heaven is made of your righteous acts.
16:16 Armageddon
G717; mount of Megiddo, gathering place of the crowd. Satan and his will gather
against God and His for this battle. Satan has NO chance! Remember Satan comes
in with peace and prosperity, not death and destruction (compare: Dan
8:23-25/11:21-25).
16:17 this
comes straight from God! All this will be done to those who fight against God
and none of His children will be harmed.
16:18 (compare:
Hebrews 12:27). Stand upon the ROCK and don’t be shaken!
16:19
(compare: Isaiah 51:22-23). Babylon will be repaid for its sins swiftly! Cup:
this is the cup Jesus asked if it could be taken away. He knew it would affect
people in a bad way so He was looking for another way to accomplish this task.
16:20 God
will be here with His kingdom that is why no other nation will be here.
16:21 talent:
110-180 pounds. Remember many of these people will think Jesus is here already
but are deceived by Satan. No repentance only blaspheming.
